Roots abnormally short and lack a normal endodermis layer, roots do not undergo the longitudinal cell division of the cortex/endodermis initial daughter cell, resulting in a single cell layer with only cortex attributes; absence of gravitropic response in shoots; absence of a normal endodermis layer in hypocotyls and inflorescence stems; transcript levels are the same as wild-type; null allele.
