Description: Reduced shoot phototropism and gravitropism; lower hypocotyl elongation rate compared to wt; primary inflorescence shoots curve slightly and the lateral shoots grow in a horizontal direction; plants are slightly smaller and have reduced vigor compared to wt; reduced fertility due to variable defects in stamen growth and pollen dehiscence; amyloplasts in the shoot endodermal cells do not sediment to the same degree as in wt; encodes a 277-kD polypeptide that is 42% similar to the Caenorhabditis elegans RME-8 protein, which is required for endocytosis.
