Phenotype

Reduced seed size; small seeds result from coordinated reduction of endosperm size, embryo proliferation, and cell elongation of the maternally derived integument. Premature arrest of endosperm growth triggers precocious onset of endosperm cellularization during the syncytial developmental stage; reduced proliferation of the cellularized endosperm, reduced embryo proliferation after the early torpedo stage and reduced cell elongation of the maternally derived seed integument. Homozygous seeds develop into plants indistinguishable from wild type.
